AMMPE Guatemala celebrates Book Day
AMMPE Guatemala Chapter celebrated International Book Day this past Wednesday, April 23rd, this year. It was a special day for literature and knowledge because tribute was paid to great writers of history who died in 1616, among them William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes. This commemoration has been celebrated in more than 100 countries with activities that promote reading and the love of books. To celebrate books is to celebrate imagination, learning and the diversity of ideas that enrich our society.
The first copy of the book “Despertar Literario - El libro vive” was presented to its author, Ms. Estela Álvarez de Larios, vice-president of our association. The book is a narrative that includes poetry.
Dr. Ana María de Eskenasy, President of the Guatemala Chapter, spoke and the architect and historian María Eugenia Beteta presented the first copy to the author. Dr. Gladys Tobar gave a detailed description of the work with the participation of poets Nicté Serra and Alejandra Santiago, who read poems included in the book. Estela de Larios shared with her guests the inspiration and purpose behind her writing. A Vino de Honor was offered.
