Puerto Williams to host the panel on science outreach at the AMMPE 2024 Congress

Puerto Williams is the southernmost city in the world and will host the panel on the importance of science outreach that is part of the program of activities of the next AMMPE World Congress in August 2024. This city and port is located in the southern part of Chile and is the capital of the Antarctic Province of this country.

The international meeting of the World Association of Women Journalists and Writers will address various topics, which are being organized with different universities.

One of the topics will be "Literature, Gender and Journalism", in which Professor María Soledad Vargas (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso) will speak, with the participation of Paula Escobar, journalist and academic of the Universidad Diego Portales.

A second major topic will be the training of journalists, which is being led by the Communications Faculty of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and is exploring the possibility of having an academic speaker from North Western University (USA).

The Communications Faculty of the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez will organize the discussion on "Democracy, Freedom of Expression and Journalism", which will include the presentation of an academic from the University of Oxford (UK).

The topic of "Digital Journalism, Social Media and Artificial Intelligence" is organized and conducted by the Communications Faculty of the Universidad del Desarrollo. Three alternatives are being considered here, to be defined soon: a professor from the University of Pompeu Fabra (Spain); the editor of the academic journal Telos; or Professor Aimee Rinehart, director of Artificial Intelligence of the AP agency.

Science and cultural bioethics in Puerto Williams

The program of the AMMPE World Congress considers that the attendees will travel to Puerto Williams. There, at the Cape Horn Subantarctic Center of the University of Magallanes, the importance of scientific dissemination will be discussed. An academic from the University of North Texas will also speak on cultural bioethics. This program will include the participation of the Chilean Association of Journalists and Professionals for Science Communication (Achipec).
