New formats and narratives for journalism and non-fiction published in a handbook

Journalism professors Susana Herrera Damas and José Luis Rojas Torrijos have published publicado "Manual de nuevos formatos y narrativas para el periodismo y la no ficción" (Handbook of new formats and narratives for journalism and non-fiction), under the imprint of the Tirant lo Blanch publishing house, part of the Plural collection.
Through 332 pages, the book explores the rich panorama of emerging digital narratives and their consolidation in contemporary journalistic practice.
Contributing to the work are almost thirty researchers from universities in Spain, who analyze the main emerging digital formats and narratives, and propose practical applications for a renewed journalism in line with the demands of the digital era. The chapters of the handbook range from theoretical perspectives to applicable tips, all supported by case studies of leading global media.
Susana Herrera has a strong background in communication and sociology, with a PhD in Communication from the University of Navarra, where she also received an Extraordinary PhD Award. She has published six books and more than 80 articles in renowned journals. With international experience in Canada and the United States, she is currently Full Professor of Journalism at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, focusing on media innovation and digital narratives. Accredited as a University Professor since 2020, her research work focuses on the ethics of innovation and solutions journalism.
José Luis Rojas, PhD in Journalism, serves as Full Professor at the University of Seville and participates as a lecturer in several master's degrees, including the Innovation in Journalism at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. His international experience includes collaborations with FNPI in Colombia, PRENDE in Mexico and sports journalism courses in Cuba. Rojas specializes in sports journalism and new digital narratives, has coordinated works on sports journalism, is co-author of the Cadena SER Style Book and has been an innovation advisor at Marca newspaper.
