Two AMMPE writer-members to be honored at the International Book Fair in Guatemala
Two members of the AMMPE Guatemala chapter, winners of the "Miguel Angel Asturias" National Literature Awards, will be honored during the country's International Book Fair. They are writers Carmen Matute and Delia Quiñonez.
La actividad está siendo organizada por el Aporte para la Descentralización Cultural (ADESCA) y lleva por título: “Ellas, las Premio Nacional de Literatura».
In the framework of its 25th anniversary, ADESCA will bring together in one place the seven Guatemalan authors who have received the highest award granted by the State of Guatemala to the country's writers.
This is the first time that the award-winning authors will participate in the same activity: Ana María Rodas in 2000, Isabel de los Ángeles Ruano in 2001, Carmen Matute in 2015, Delia Quiñónez in 2016, Gloria Hernández in 2022, Luz Méndez de la Vega in 1994 and Margarita Carrera in 1996. Representing the last two writers will be their relatives.
During the tribute, national writers will talk about the contributions to Guatemalan culture and literature left by the works of these great women authors.
Participating in the discussion will be Carmen Lucía Alvarado, Arturo Arias, Juan Carlos Lemus, Carolina Escobar Sarti, Gladys Tobar and Vania Vargas.
Filgua began on Thursday, July 6 and will run until the 16th of this month at Fórum Majadas.
